Shopping Arcade

Aim to have a renewal, an industrial building to leisure program as a shopping arcade. We targeting the foreign officers come and take a break here. As industrial in Hong Kong was a upcoming trend for work district, our stragety is to provide a nearby place for them to enjoy a nap or relaxation.

To conclude, we designed a time shifting programs for this project, the day & night shift services; as well as weekday shopping centre & weekend hand market/workshop. Weekly held a large weekend market, as a hand showers and sales of their own design products for the platform. Hand market is now the city of hand-made and hand-made enthusiasts of the feet together to share with each other to create the results of elaborate, for the hustle and bustle of the city into a small fresh. There are a lot of suitable for parent-child stalls, including handmade jam, non-woven dolls, sterling silver jewelry, adult and children’s hair ornaments, etc., a total of about 50 stores at the street level. The public during the market can register for free open-air film, Enjoy the award-winning film, and in the post-symposium and senior critics exchange; also participate in the shop tour guide, under the leadership of the tour guide to understand the old factory building converted shops, bookstore, cafe, and a relax stay.

At the initial concept stage, we tried to combine 2 elements: water & sound, which represented the users’ need, leisure(officer) and energy(student), the theme was generated to be resonance in spatial planning & zoning as well. The Puffitime Palace provides
coffee, books & music at daytime; wine, movies & live band at night, placing the shop according to the activities in different intensity, from top to bottom; cozy to intense. And it becomes a pop marketing stragety nowadays, for instance, Eslite Bookstore & cafe in Hysan Plaza, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong.

 

We did a integrated researches in the Kwai Hing district, such as age group, consumption, activity habit, transportation network and revitalixation regulation in Hong Kong, then draft in shopping arcades graph, consumption charts & structural diagrams in the final presentation to the client. It’s obvious that the footbridge network is the key to draw potential customers, hence the circulation could be enlarged with primary catchment area (PCA), within 15 minutes walk to secondary catchment area (SCA), within 15 minutes by car. By establishing such network within the site
buildings, later a corelated consumption service industry would be introduced into the shopping arcade.
